The competence of the workforce has the most crucial relationship to the achievement of the aims of the Drug Strategy and a broad range of workers have a role to play in addressing substance misuse. This briefing paper is for those in the substance misuse workforce and those commissioning services. It sets out details of the resources, guidance and frameworks which exist to support the development of skills and competence relevant to the substance misuse field.
