A Validation Study on the Criminal Justice Drug Worker Assessment Process 2005/2006

Barkers and the Drug Interventions Programme (DIP) set out to design and deliver an effective recruitment process to attract candidates from outside of the drug sector to work as Criminal Justice Drug Workers. This was the first time individuals from outside of the sector were actively encouraged to apply for the role.

This report provides a review of this recruitment process, together with recommendations for the future. A key question was whether individuals with transferable skills from other sectors could become as effective Criminal Justice Drug Workers as people already working within the drug profession.

The report focuses on evaluating the assessment centre and final interview stages of the recruitment process, rather than the application form.
