Council of the European Union

The Council of the European Union enacts legislation throughout the EU and directs cooperation between governments.

In December 2004, the Council of the European Union endorsed the EU Drugs Strategy (2005-2012) which sets the framework, objectives and priorities for two consecutive four-year EU Drugs Action Plans.

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union rotates every 6 months.  The United Kingdom will hold the Presidency during the second half of 2005.
