Invitation to bid: drug system change pilots programme

18 November 2008

We are now inviting bids for innovative projects offering end-to-end approaches to managing drug users.

As part of our overarching drug strategy, we’re looking for new approaches to drug treatment and social reintegration. One element of that will involve developing pilot projects to test creative new approaches that can provide better end-to-end management of drug users through the system, including more effective use of pooled funding and individual budgets, with a sharper focus on positive outcomes for drug users, their families and their communities.

We’re inviting proposals for pilots to deliver an end-to-end approach to managing drug users and their multiple needs, adopting a more personalised approach. These pilot areas will be granted funding flexibilities, giving them the opportunity to develop their own approaches, testing new and innovative ideas.

This is an important and challenging programme of work.  The outcomes from these pilots will help to set the future direction of regional and local drug funding, commissioning and delivery systems.
