Do I need a domestic possession/supply licence before I apply for an import/export licence?
Generally, yes.

How much does an import/export licence cost?
It is free of charge.

How long do they take to issue?
Approx seven days from receipt, depending on demand.

Are there set criteria/minimum/maximum amounts of drugs to need a licence?
No, all controlled drugs need a licence regardless of amounts.

Can more than one substance be entered on an application?
Yes, providing all the substances are travelling in one consignment.

Can a licence be re-used?
No, a licence is for a specific shipment.

Can I still use a licence if the amounts requested on the application differ from those actually being shipped?
Yes if it is an undershipment, no if you intend to ship more than is stated on the licence. In this event you will need to arrange an amendment of your licence or apply for a new one, depending on circumstances.

Do I have to send a copy of the export licence with the shipment?
Yes. You are sent two copies of an export licence. One goes with the goods and one is filled in and sent back to us.
