Children's and young people's workforce

This section covers the children's and young people's workforce, with sources of detailed information and advice for specific sectors of the workforce.

Guidance and good practice

Briefing papers and other resources have been produced by the Home Office for the substance misuse workforce, covering a range of issues. These are available to download from this site:

In addition, Brighton and Hove DAAT have developed a training strategy (new window), which focuses on the children's and young people's workforce. It has been produced within the context of Every Child Matters (new window) and the Children's Workforce Strategy (new window). It provides a good example of the issues to be considered in developing such a strategy. The implementation plan (new window), which accompanies the strategy, provides further detail on the issues to be considered in planning the development of the workforce.

Key documents and resources

  • The Home Office, in association with SOLVE IT, Re-Solv, the National Children's Bureau and the British Aerosol Manufacturers' Association, has published a toolkit (new window) for all those who may come into contact with, or have a role in preventing, VSA.
