Required (initial and follow-up) Assessment guidance

Guidance on required or follow up assessment for the Drug Interventions Programme (DIP).

Guidance for the implementation of the DIP provisions of the Drugs Act 2005  provides operational process guidance on the implementation of Testing on Arrest, required assessment (RA) and Restriction on Bail provisions (RoB). This guidance updates and replaces guidance published in September 2008. It came into effect on 1 April 2009 and is for use by all areas implementing Testing on Arrest and required assessment (initial and follow-up)

Guidance for non-intensive DIP areas is effective from 1 April 2009.

DIP operational process FAQs relates to Testing on Arrest, Required Assessment (initial and follow-up assessment), Restrictions on Bail and changes to the Trigger Offences caused by the Fraud Act 2006. The document will continue to be updated as and when additional questions are sent in to us. 

Basic evidential statement template are used for an evidential statement of failure to attend or remain in treatment.
