Drug Interventions Programme

Increasing Client Engagement guidance

The Drug Interventions Programme (DIP) has achieved significant progress in increasing the numbers of drug using offenders entering treatment, but performance continues to vary significantly between areas and over time. DIP is committed to increasing engagement, improving retention in appropriate treatment and support, continuing to drive up performance throughout the programme, and ensuring value for money.

  • Increasing Client Engagement (ICE) action plan - assigns actions to be taken at local levels, which are overseen and driven by regional colleagues aimed at encouraging and then retaining drug misusing offenders in treatment
  • ICE good practice examples (updated May 2007) - lists and links to various examples of good practice being implemented around the country which will help meet the aims of the action plan. The document shows which aspects of the action plan each bit of good practice is relevant to
  • ICE commissioning note - a note to ICE Working Group members about the ICE action plan, and its distribution and implementation
