How to promote the awards in your area

We hope that you will want to promote the awards in your local area and there are a number of ways you can work with us to do this.

Local media

Contact the local media to let them know that the awards are taking place.

You might use the launch of the awards as a way of bringing attention to successful local projects. Perhaps you could spark local interest and encourage nominations by highlighting local case studies, or putting up a spokesperson for an interview to talk about the importance of the awards and of recognising life-changing work.

Why not refer to the Tackling Drugs Changing Lives Awards as a follow-up to the activities that you organised during National Tackling Drugs Week?

Awards article

Download the template article or template press notice to announce the awards and explain how people can nominate entries. You could use this article in any local newsletter or stakeholder update that you issue regularly.

Posters and leaflets

Download A3 or A4 size colour poster and a leaflet to promote the awards in your local area. These can be used in community centres, police stations, prisons, treatment centres and in the work place to make sure everyone who might like to nominate someone for an award is aware of the scheme and knows exactly what to do.

Internal Communications

Why not think about adding to the awards as an agenda item to team meetings to stimulate interest and discussion and email the awards article to your contacts, encouraging them in turn to forward it on.

Your contacts

Don't forget to think about people you know who deserve to win - can you encourage a colleague or friend to nominate them?
