Police-led Enforcement Activity

Ideas of action

Chief Inspector Stuart Lander, operational ACPO lead for National Tackling Drugs Week, will be co-ordinating police activities.  He will be in contact with forces and is available to respond to specific questions you might have about police activities during the week.

 Ideas of Activities

  • Tackle visible drug markets where they are a problem
  • Close Cannabis factories and Crack Houses
  • Publicise examples of drug dealers assets being confiscated and highlight the funds returned to the police from these seizures.
  • Publicise example of where the co-ordianted use of powers, sanctions and levers is disrupting dealers
  • Publicise safer neighbourhood teams that have a focus on drug related criminality where it is identified locally as an issue
  • Demonstrate evidence of where partners are operating effective integrated offender management models to identify and target those drug offenders causing the most harm to local communities
  • Record information on various enforcement results during national Tackling Drugs Week. e.g

         *    Arrest / charges for the supply of class A drugs

         *    Sentences/Convictions for supply offences

         *    Firearms seized, limitation firearms

         *    Rounds of ammunition

         *    Other weapons seized

  • Examples of effective and innovative work to joing enforcement and demand reduction initiatives such as the Drug Interventions Programme
  • Highlight and promote local campaigns such as 'Rat on a Rat' as these campaigns have a community focus and enable strong messages to be delivered that emphasise enforcement activity
