National Tackling Drugs Week - 19-23 May 2008
National Tackling Drugs Week is a key national platform on which local agencies can publicise their efforts to tackle drug issues. We want to increase public confidence in, and awareness of the work being done locally to respond to local drug priorities.
This week will build upon the success and momentum generated by previous National Tackling Drugs Days. It's also a reflection of our commitment to respond to community concerns about drugs, which is a key element of the new Drug Strategy.
Purpose of week:
-
Raise awareness of work undertaken by agencies (DAATs, CDRPs, Neighbourhood Policing teams and Police Forces)
-
Tackle drugs and reduce drug-related crime in communities across the country
-
Highlight the wide ranging activities and services available
We would like as many local agencies around the country to take part. Your level of involvement could range from high profile and visible police enforcement activity, to community events where the public can engage with the Police and partner agencies to highlight local issues and concerns, through to open days and exhibitions in treatment centres. For more ideas, see the 'What You Can Do' and 'National Tackling Drugs Day 2007 Events' sections.
We encourage you to involve the general public and media throughout so that the true extent of local drug activity is communicated to your local audience. For more help and support see the contact section.
