Below are some common questions about the FRANK awards.

Why nominate?

By nominating an individual or organisation you will be putting their work forward for recognition at a national level. You will also be helping to share best practice of local and regional drug issue initiatives.

Who can nominate?

Anyone is allowed to nominate. 

How can I nominate?

  • If you want to send the form back in hard copy format please send via post to the address below
  • Wherever possible, please show how you used FRANK
  • All successful nominations will be published on this website in January 2009 and stakeholders will be encouraged to vote for their favourite entry.
  • You may want to include extra materials or examples of materials produced to support your nomination e.g. jpeg images, collateral, video stills, CDs, DVDs.  Please note, only images will be published on the voting website. If you are including a video/DVD footage please include a jpeg still of the footage to go on the website. To submit supporting material, please reference these under the relevant question, include all your contact details, including which award you are nominating for and your region, and send via post to:

Who is eligible for an award?

Anybody who demonstrates innovative or effective use of FRANK, and meets the judging criteria.

Can I nominate myself/my team?

Yes as long as you can satisfy the judging criteria and demonstrate that your FRANK communications have made a positive difference then you can nominate yourself.

Can I nominate more than one person/team?

You can nominate as many organisations or individuals as you like as long as they satisfy the judging criteria.

What are the judges looking for?

The judges are looking for individuals or teams who have used FRANK in innovative ways to engage with young people or the wider community. For further details see the judging criteria.

How are winners selected?

All entries will be received by a small team of Home Office representatives who will assess their suitability for an award. Suitable entries will be posted on this website and votes will then be invited from 12 January until 20 February 2009.

How many winners are there and how will they be chosen?

Two regional awards will be given for each of the nine government regions in England (one for each category) and two overall winners will be selected. There will also be a judge's award for the best use of FRANK.

All entrants will be judged on the criteria laid out in the nomination criteria.

How/when do we find out who the winners are?

The winners will be announced in early March and invited to a ceremony at the Home Office in late March.

What is the deadline for nominations?

The deadline for nominations is 19 December 2009.  The deadline for voting will be 20 February 2009.
